Backyard Rehearsal Dinner Ideas

After searching long and hard for the perfect rustic wedding venue, the wedding gown of your dreams and all of the invitations are being printed it is sometimes the last detail that can trip you up. If you are struggling to find the right rehearsal dinner spot and you, your family and fiance seem to be at a cross roads as to where to have it,  you might need to take a step back and think about something a little closer to home. Often times a backyard style rehearsal dinner is exactly what is needed and in many cases the most fun. Just because you or your family members may be hosting the dinner at home does not mean that you need to be “working” the party. Pay someone else to do the cooking, serving and cleaning this way you, your family,  your wedding party & guest can all enjoy the time before the big day.

Keeping the menu simple, yummy and easy enough to eat while mingling is the key to good backyard style food. BBQ foods are always a good menu idea but if they are not your style then don’t be afraid to think more traditional about your food choices. Just because the dinner may be in a backyard does not mean it has to be informal.

Getting creative with drink displays is a fun way to add some backyard feel to a party. Large galvanized tubs are always a good option and can be easily refilled and by adding some ice you know your drinks will stay cool. Thinking outside the box and getting creative with your displays is a good way to put your own “stamp” on the event like choosing a canoe, hallowed out tree stump or wheelbarrow.

I recently attended the wedding rehearsal dinner of my niece that was so wonderful. They had put up a big-screen tv and played a musical show made with pictures of the couple’s dating days. It was perfectly synchronized to music and because it was professionally made, the results were awesomely romantic and touching! They got the show custom-made for them by SmilingSnaps and I had never seen anything like that before.
